Sarah was taking from Benue when she was 6 years by her mother when she lost the father,the mother then remarried and when she was 8 the stepfather took her to Lagos and was given out as a house help. She was given out to ten different homes by the time she was ten,and according to her money was being paid to her stepfather. When she turned 10, she ran away from the home she was given to and ended up under the bridge in Lagos. On a certain day security men came on security clearance and she was taken along other to the police station where she spent 3 months until an NGO(Ogedegede Development Foundation) came on an advocacy visit to the station and her case was mentioned to them. They now did the referral to us. Sarah was taken to a shelter in Abuja and became unruly. By the time we rescued she was one month pregnant. She is in the shelter and the baby is doing well
This activity was held to intimate the NHRC leadership of the RESPACFO. This visit allowed RESPACFO. to review its activities and also seek partnership with the commission towards the achievement of inclusion for persons with disabilities in the political party system in Nigeria.
In attendance of the activity were representatives from the RESPACFO, NHRC and the media. Amongst the achievement of this activity was the creation of working relationship between RESPACFO and NHRC, invitation of the NHRC Chairman as a guest our activities.
